At Stump Pros VA, we believe in straightforward, transparent pricing without the guesswork. Whether you have a single small stump or an entire lot to clear, our rates are designed to be fair and easy to calculate. Below, you'll find a clear breakdown of our service minimums, per-inch rates, and customizable cleanup options to help you plan your landscaping project with confidence.
Pricing

Minimum Service Fee
Covers one stump up to 25" across at ground level, with an additional $10 per inch within our service area. Removal of woodchips is an extra service (see Full Haul-Away below).

Backfill (Most Popular)
We leave the chips in a neat pile where the old stump was located. Our service turns the stump into a pile of organic wood chips, great for your soil and acts as a natural mulch.

Full Haul-Away
We remove all mulch/debris and rake the area clean, with enough mulch left behind to fill the hole. The price is generally equal to the price of the base stump grinding service.

Soil Backfill
For Full Haul-Away jobs, we can backfill with 0.75 cubic foot bags of premium top soil. Price is per bag needed to fill the hole.
Additional Charges
Outside Service Area
Per mile for jobs over 20 miles from 22304.
Tall Stump
Per inch for stumps taller than 8" (which will need to be cut down with a chainsaw). We are not equipped to grind stumps over 6' tall. If the stump is less than 12" across at ground level, this fee will be waived.
Site Prep / Difficult Access
Including light brush or obstacles that need to be moved to access the stump(s). Avoid this fee by prepping your yard before we arrive.
Deep Grind
We can grind up to 12" deep to help clear root systems for planting a new tree. Our standard depth is 4-8" which is plenty for other plantings including sod.
